Creative Mentoring & Coaching
Working with an experienced mentor to develop your writing can be many things:
A celebration of your work, a collaboration, someone you can bounce ideas off as well as learn from, someone who will get just as excited as you about your new draft or creative breakthrough. It can be long-term support or a month long kickstart. It can be the beginning of your writing career.
I offer a variety of programs that can all be tailored to your needs.
As a poet, author and editor, I have over fifteen years of experience, both of producing award-winning writing and of selecting work for publishers. I have taught writing at a post-graduate level and am passionate about helping writers of all kinds realise their creative potential.
If you are interested in one of the programs below, or have any questions about how creative mentoring works and what it could do for you, please click the button below to contact me.
Program 1
Focuses on building, exploring and cementing a sustainable creative practice, with an emphasis on discussion, organic learning, and generative practice.
This program would suit you if you are new to writing, or have been writing for a while but would like to do so more seriously. It is also suitable for those in need of some help after a break from writing, or anyone suffering writer's block, as well as those without a particular project in mind who would like to develop their skills and voice.
You will receive tailored exercises meant to expand your practice, which will guide you towards a sustainable mode of creative practice. This mentorship is meant as a conversation: instead of assigning contact time, we can chat back and forth each week throughout as needed. Each month you will receive a critique of any work you have submitted, guidance about where your work is headed, as well as time to talk about what practices have suited your developing methodology. This mentorship is an organic one, and during the course of it our direction may change according to your needs.

Available for 3, 6, or 12 months, starting at £450.
Program 2

Focuses on developing a particular piece or body of work, either expanding upon or editing a draft you already have, or guiding you through the process of creation, with an emphasis on critiquing ongoing work and improving skills.
This would suit those with a particular project in mind, like a novel or collection of poem or stories, those wanting to improve their writing, or those wanting to build on a history of writing but perhaps move into a new area or discipline with the support of a mentor. It would also suit bloggers who would like to build a consistent voice and style.
Each month you will receive a detailed and positive critique of your work-in-progress, including guidance on where your work is headed, and recommended reading.
At the end of your mentorship, you will receive advice on the publishing world, with specific recommendations for your work.
4 Week Kickstart

A one-off consultation focusing on whichever aspect of your writing you would like, followed by four weeks of support to help put you on the right track.
Once you've submitted an extract of your work, we can discuss it in depth, addressing any specific problems you're having with it, where you might like to take it next, recommended reading, even advice on what might suit your work with regards to the publishing industry.
Over the following four weeks, you can drop me a line anytime to chat about your work and how it's going, and I'll answer any follow-up questions you might have.
This will suit more experienced writers who need help with a specific problem, writers who have completed part or all of a first draft and would like help moving forward with it, those working on the ordering of a poetry or story collection, or writers at the beginning of their career who would like help with editing.
Literary Consultation

I am happy to provide consultation work for companies and publications wishing to perfect their body of literature, whether printed or online.
I can provide feedback on consistency, voice, and tone, and advice on how to tailor each for your target audience.
I particularly encourage small, sustainable, women-led businesses to get in touch.
Please enquire for rates.
I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have about mentoring programs, or to chat about which one might be right for you!
Available for 3 or 6 months, starting at £365.
Limited spots available at a fixed price of £210.

One-Off Consultation

A one-off consultation with no follow up. You will have the option to submit a short extract of your work, and to detail what you are hoping to get out of our consultation ahead of time.
We will then discuss your work in a contact call, addressing general issues or specific problems, where you might want to take your work, recommended reading, or advice on what might suit you with regards to the publishing industry.
We can also discuss what the right path might be in terms of building a body of work, or chat about a specific project you have in mind, and how to go about it.
This will suit either a more experienced writer who needs help with a specific problem or project, or someone earlier on in their career who would like pointers about how to proceed, whether with writing or the editing process.
Limited spots available at a fixed price of £85
